What Is the Triangle of Forgiveness?

The Triangle of Forgiveness is a three-part model for emotional clarity, relational healing, and deep inner peace. It identifies three essential pathways of forgiveness:

1. Forgiving Others

Releasing the people who have harmed you. This is the outward movement: letting go of resentment, blame, and the emotional weight tied to the actions of others.

2. Forgiving Yourself for What You Did to Others

Healing the guilt and shame stemming from harm you caused. This step addresses the internal burden that continues to shape relationships, self-esteem, and emotional freedom.

3. Forgiving Yourself for What You Did to Yourself

Transforming the wounds you created within yourself — through self-judgment, limiting beliefs, self-sabotage, or neglect. This deepest layer of forgiveness is essential for true inner liberation.

International Presence

The Triangle of Forgiveness is published internationally in multiple languages — English, Dutch, French, Spanish, and German — and appears across several public platforms including YouTube and international websites.

  • Multilingual “International Triangle of Forgiveness” video presentation
  • Articles and commentaries distributed online
  • Dedicated pages introducing the model and its practices

Why This Model Is Unique

The Triangle stands out globally for three reasons:

  • Clear three‑fold relational distinction rarely found in other forgiveness models
  • Two layers of self-forgiveness, offering depth and psychological insight
  • Simple, powerful visual metaphor that works intuitively across cultures

How to Use the Triangle

Individuals, counselors, spiritual teachers, and communities can apply the Triangle in reflections such as:

  • Forgive Others: “What am I still carrying that I no longer need?”
  • Forgive Yourself for Others: “Where do I still hold guilt, and what can I release?”
  • Forgive Yourself for Yourself: “What wounds have I inflicted on myself that need compassion?”

The Purpose

The Triangle of Forgiveness helps close emotional loops, restore inner balance, support healing, and form a foundation for deeper spiritual or psychological growth. It is accessible, universal, and adaptable across cultures and traditions.
